As part of the Formula E project our team was also required to have a charity element. For our charity we contacted Kidspace Children's Museum and created with staff there a three week workshop with the children to teach them about physics, design, crafting, and finally culminating on the race day with a mini race before the main event.
At Kidspace
At Kidspace we had the children make their own rubber band powered cars that used propellers off of small model airplanes. The kids decorated their own cars and learned about the physics behind a normal car as well as our wind powered versions.
The Formula E event
On the day of the race we were able to line up all the kids and have them race, we designed and made masks to wear throughout the event to support our team.
